A peaceful – if cloudy – day in Machynlleth, Wales. I had walked down to the Dyfi River to do a watercolor of the old bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I worked, I listened to the sheep and the birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the fighter jets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were practicing their trade in the “Mach Loop,” a route that zooms – loudly – amongst the beautiful hills and valleys of this area of Mid Wales. (the bottom image is enlarged to show one of the jets a bit better).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A weird and contradictory experience: Enjoying the pastures and trees and hills that surround the small Welsh town, knowing that the jets will come screaming by on occasion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
